Georgetown Cupcake gives us their picks

We reported on Georgetown Cupcake , several posts ago and decided to go in and check them out to see what places they like to eat so people coming into town like, You, would have some places to scout out. Here are the places one of the owners and some of their employees said were really good.

Peacock cafe , Cafe Milano (tends to be packed, has a nice bar/seating area), —FILOMENA —HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (has very cool pasta and amazing desserts), Nathan’s (A great brunch place), Fahrenheit Ritz Carlton Georgetown (nice bar and resturant.very nice) (All these places are in or around Georgetown ).

Good Stuff Eatery (opened up by a chef that was on Top Chef ), Bourbon Steak (great steak!), both are on Pennsylvania Ave.

M Street is a great place to venture off on.

For High End Shopping or if you’re itching to visit a nice shopping/residential area…Chevy Chase is Nice. Next to Chevy Chase is Bethesda and Burger Joint is a nice place to eat at in Bethesda.

Dupont Circle was mentioned as an enjoyable place to go.

We went to Gallaudet University and met, Kami, an undergraduate student who happily recommended these places to go and eat at ….and aren’t pricy at all:

ADAMS MORGAN: Busboys & Poets (A restaurant, bookstore, fair trade market and gathering place, Ben’s Chili Bowl (Adams Morgan)

PENNSYLVANIA AVE: Capitol Lounge & Good Stuff Eatery

H-STREET: Granville Moore

GEORGETOWN: Benihana (great Japanese cooking)

And here are museums that Kami said are good:

CHINATOWN: National Crime and Punishment & Spy Museum

NATIONAL MALL AREA: Holocaust Museum , Newseum & Hirshhorn Art Museum

A native resident of the Maryland/DC Area (parent of crashtheinaguration.com’s blogger), just ate at Zaytinya and highly recommends it. It’s really good….well priced….and located right next to the gallery place metro stop in Chinatown.

On Jan. 20 the passes will be $10 at ALL sales locations.

Watch Obama on the BIG screen

Yes, 21 Jumbotrons will be at the National Mall for the big event. But lets say…well…you want to be in DC, but not on the National Mall on Jan. 20th, but still want to see OBAMA… well you can!

The Navy Memorial’s Naval Heritage Center will show the event live on a 46 foot x 16 foot high def. screen. It’ll cost $30 to get in which will include a boxed lunch from Organic to Go. All are welcome. Click here to learn more.

Neighborhood Ball tickets sold out

Tickets to the Neighborhood Ball ( which ABC will air from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 20.) with big name musical celebs apparently went on sale and were sold out very fast.

The Youth Ball for ages 18-35, Mid-Atlantic Ball, and Biden Home States Ball are all sold out. According to the Washington Post, the Mid-Western, Southern and Western/Southwestern Ball may still have tickets left, at $150 each.

Whistle stop tour - 10:05am - evening

10:05 AM President-Elect Obama speaks in Philadelphia before boarding a train to Wilmington, DE, Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC. Tickets are required and have already been distributed.

1:00 PM Vice President-Elect Biden boards the inaugural train in Wilmington, Delaware. Before the train departs for Baltimore, there will be a free public event at the Wilmington Train Station, (100 South French Street). Doors open at 9:30 AM for this event.

4:15 PM President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Biden speak in Baltimore at the War Memorial Plaza (101 N. Gay Street) before continuing on to Washington, DC. Access to the Plaza will start at 1:00 p.m.

Evening Obama and Biden families arrive at Washington’s Union Station by train. No public speaking event has been announced.

Described as “Monty Python meets Schoolhouse Rock,” this group adapts and performs stories written by children to create a performance acted by adults. In celebration of the upcoming presidential inauguration, the company will select five election-themed stories. All Millennium Stage performances are free, no tickets required.
